JOIN US! Montana Online Writing Teacher PLC Starts September 13
Do you find yourself wanting time with other teachers to ask questions and share resources? Are you wishing you had more teachers with whom to collaborate? We have a solution! Check out our online Professional Learning Community (PLC). Hosted by high school English teacher Bridgett Paddock, this PLC meets online on the 2nd Wednesday of the month at 3:45pm. Covering a variety of topics, the focus is on teaching writing in all subject areas. We discuss pedagogy, materials resources, and ask one another questions. Can’t make the live meeting? Don’t worry, recordings will be posted. Renewal units are available for the live or recorded sessions. Go to the Teacher Learning Hub, enroll in the Montana Writing Teachers PLC, and find the link to the live meeting. See you there!
Arts as our Voice - Montana Arts Education Leadership Summit, Sept 29-30 in Great Falls
Did you know Montana implemented new arts standards in July 2017? To celebrate the arts across Montana and provide professional learning on the new standards, the Montana Arts Council and the Montana Office of Public Instruction are pleased to offer a weekend workshop for teachers and administrators. Join us to learn from Montana Teacher Leaders in the Arts about arts integration in all subject areas while reinforcing arts learning as a critical component of a well-rounded education for every student. Registration is free and on a first-come, first-served basis. Renewal units will be provided. For more information and to register go to this Registration Form. Interested in presenting? Submit a proposal here! Questions? Email Christy Mock-Stutz.
Grow Your Teaching Practice!
Teachers often say they are life-long learners, and we strive to encourage our students to be life-long learners. How do we stay connected as professionals? How do we grow ourselves as teaching professionals after we have been teaching for so many years? Here are just a few ideas. I challenge you to try one today!
- Join a professional organization such as MATELA (MT Association of Teachers of English Language Arts)
- Participate in the online Writing Teacher PLC each month
- Provide mentorship, leadership and professional learning to other teachers. Let me know you might be interested in being part of a Montana Leadership Team by going to this Teacher Leadership Interest Form.
Hope you have a wonderful school year-
