We are looking for members for the State Special Education Advisory Panel. Specifically, parents of students with disabilities age birth through 25. The advisory panel has a number of required member roles. Parents are a critical component of our stakeholders. Montana’s Special Education State Systemic Improvement Plan targets school completion for American Indian students. So we are attempting to increase Native members to the panel. The panel meets four times a year in Helena. All travel expenses are paid. This is a three-year commitment.
We are also looking for a regular classroom teacher. Same expectations. Members can serve in more than one capacity, so a teacher with a child with disabilities would be preferred.Members are expected to have regular attendance at meetings and to openly share their input. The topics and discussions of the panel are complex.
We are also looking for a student with a disability to serve on the Panel; preferably a sophomore or junior in high school who can serve more than one year.
If you know someone who might be a good fit, please let me know or contact them directly to see if they would be interested.
Thank you for your help!
