Big Idea #1 - DNA Bootcamp for Teachers Workshop

Flathead Valley Community College is hosting a free DNA Bootcamp for Teachers workshop April 28-29, 2017. It is for middle and high school teachers who want to integrate DNA technology into their curriculum. FVCC credit or OPI renewal units are available. Big Idea #2 - Math Teachers' Circle in Miles City

Montana Math Teachers' Circle is meeting April 1, 2017 in Room 106 at Miles Community College. This is a free opportunity for all K-12 educators and mathematicians to join area math educators in collaborating on an interesting math activity, engage in mathematical discussion, and share problem-solving approaches.   • WELL 2.0- Writing Education for Learners and Leaders Teacher Leadership Hub Course
    This new facilitated course is a blended course offered on the Teacher Learning Hub that will take you on a journey through the Montana Core Standards for Writing, how to implement them in the classroom, and then on to what it means to be a teacher leader. Facilitated by Christy Mock-Stutz, OPI ELA Instructional Coordinator, the course earns six renewal units and runs from April 3rd through mid-May.  Registration is open now on the Teacher Learning Hub.


  • Enhancing Writing in All Classrooms Workshop
    This all-day session will take teachers on a deep dive into the Montana Core Standards for writing that will lay the groundwork for strategic and thoughtful writing instruction in grades 7-12.  Led by OPI Instructional Coordinators Christy Mock-Stutz and Jennifer Stadum, teachers will learn instructional strategies such as modeling for students, finding mentor texts, and effectively differentiating instruction. At the end of this workshop, teachers will have great new strategies to implement across content areas and in all classrooms.
