Call for Participants in the Revision of the Montana Literacy Plan (MLP)

The Montana Office of Public Instruction (OPI) will begin the process of reviewing and revising the Montana Literacy Plan (MLP). To do so, the OPI is seeking educators to join the MLP focus group. The group will consist of various members, including OPI representatives who specialize in literacy. Additionally, taking into account various district sizes, the MLP focus group will seek to have representation from the five regions across Montana. The OPI will also be seeking at least one literacy expert to represent the Montana American Indian population of the state. The MLP focus group will meet in Bozeman, Montana, June 12-13, 2017, to review and revise the MLP. Then, this group will come together for one day on Tuesday, July 25 to provide a final review.

Each participant will earn a $1000 stipend for the three days of meetings and virtual work and will be reimbursed for lodging and travel. Breakfast, lunch, and refreshments will be provided at the meetings.

Applicants are required to describe their expertise in literacy development and education for children birth through Grade 12, with an emphasis on disadvantaged children, by completing an online application. To apply, complete and submit the form linked below by May 17, 2017, 5 p.m. Applicants will be notified of the result of their application by May 24, 2017.
