Joy Bridwell is a librarian at Stone Child College in Box Elder and was recently announced as one of the winners of the American Library Association's 2018 I Love My Librarian! awards. Big Idea #2 - A homegrown PBS science show
The University of Montana's Paleontology Center has a show on PBS Digital Studios called Eons. The show covers all things paleontology from ancient climate change to when apes conquered Europe. Each episode is less than 15 minutes, and there are currently over 60 episodes available to watch. Visit the show's page on PBS' website to view a list of episodes or watch the current one.
Big Idea #3 - Know an awesome educator or two?
OPI's Indian Education for All division is accepting nominations for their 2019 Advocacy for Excellence in Indian Education for All Award. The deadline for nominations is Thursday, January 24, 2019. The award will be presented during the IEFA Best Practices Conference Cultural Continuum on Saturday, March 2, 2019. Visit their website to nominate that special educator.
The Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching is accepting nominations for their 2019 award. The deadline for nominations is Friday, March 1, 2019. The award is for science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and computer science teachers in grades 7 to 12. Visit their website for the nominations form and other information.
